Chapter 1-The Chase

Don't you just hate it when people stare at you? Obviously, I know I'm different, but c'mon. Everyone stares at my sisters and I with their mouths wide open I swear a bug will end up flying in. They're all too scared to even try and be our friend, so we just keep to ourselves. Not that we blame them. I mean, if I was some pathetic human, I'm not sure I'd want to hang out with supernatural witches either. But they don't even know we're witches. It's our eye color that gets them all scared. They're not normal and no contacts could be made to look the way our eyes are. Ours glitter. No joke. My eyes are golden orange, my sister Claribel's are lime green, and my sister Nixie's are light purple. Oh, by the way, my name is Aonani Summers, I'm a junior at Ridgeway High School, and my sisters and I are witches.
We don't even know where the powers we have came from. They've probably been descended down the family tree for ages. Our parents probably knew, but they mysteriously vanished when we were three, or so our Grandma said. We live with her now, but she's lost a lot of memory over the years and she doesn't even remember we have powers. Soon, she'll forget who we are. When that day comes, Claribel, whom is 18 right now and a senior in high school, will become our legal guardian. I'm okay with that, but Nixie has a hard time taking orders from anyone who isn't our real parents. She's the youngest of us three, 16 and a sophmore. She's going to have to get over it though. We have no other choice.
Also, with our age, comes the level of our powers. Claribel is obviously the most powerful of us three. She's an Earth Mover. She uses both her physical and mental strengths. I am a Fire Starter. I only use my physical abilities. And Nixie is a Psychic, which means she only uses her mental abilities. Nixie doesn't really have an active power. Not yet anyways. Our powers are still progressing. She can read peoples minds and see the future, but she can't read Claribel's mind or mine. Her most active power is creating a force field, which isn't even that active.
It was friday and lunch time. My sister's and I, like always, were sitting at our own lunch table, side-by-side. Claribel always sits in the middle, with me to her left and Nixie to her right. Claribel plays the over-protective big sister part well. Sitting in the middle must make her feel strong and daring. Nobody would dare mess with her. But she isn't even that scary. Well, she is when she's using her powers, but when she acts like is right now, she's a really sweet and beautiful girl. All of us are. Not trying to sound cocky, but Nixie has read almost everyone's mind in the school and most of them think us three could be super models, but yet they were too afraid to talk to us. Humans are so confusing.
I had just taken the first bite of my food when Nixie's head jerked up, which made Claribel and I jump a little. Her eyes looked between shocked and confused. She started looking around the cafeteria. Twirling and twisting her head and body around in her chair.
"Nixie, what's wrong? What's happening" Claribel asked. Her voice had a mixture of velvet and worry in it. Nixie stood up and got on her tippy toes to look around the crowded room.
"Nixie, what is it? Who are you looking for?" I asked impassiantly. The other voices in the room went from loud talking to low whispers in the matter of seconds. Most eyes were on us now.
"Someone's here. Watching us." Nixie whispered.
"Who?" Claribel asked in a low whisper. All three of us were now standing and looking around the now silent cafeteria.
"I don't know. I don't recognize this one. The voice in his head sounds distant, yet so delicate. I've never heard anything like it before." Our whispering was so low that it probably looked like we were lip syncing a song. I'm pretty sure, more like one hundred and ten percent sure, that nobody can hear a word we're saying.
"Is it human?" Claribel's voice was now more alert and protective, but still a light whisper.
"I don't think so. We gotta go. Whatever it is, we can't risk it attacking or exposing us." Without saying another word, we picked up our purses and binders and fled the cafeteria. We got inside the building and a teacher nervously asked where we were heading. Without saying a word, Claribel flashed her student ID card, which had a senior lunch sticker on the back, which meant she was allowed to leave the campus for lunch. She teacher didn't say another word. We just kept walking until we were in the student parking lot. We got into Claribel's lime green convertible BMW and ditched the school. Claribel, of course, drove, I sat in the passenger seat, and Nixie sat in the back seat. It felt like we were speeding by the way the car took off and the amount of wind that blew out hair back, but we were actually driving the speed limit. Suprisingly. I wonder what it would feel like if we did speed.
"No one's following us, are they?" Claribel asked. Nixie turned her head around and looked at the distant school parking lot.
"No, not...wait...." Nixie watched as a black SUV pulled out of the student parking lot and started driving quickly down the same street we were on.
"They're on our tail! Go!" Nixie yelled. Claribel stomped on the pedal and the car jolted foward at what felt like lightning speed. All of our bodies got pushed back into the seats we were in. Then we were off, speeding around multiple cars in front of us. Nixie turned her head around and gasped.
"They're getting closer! Claribel! Do something!" Nixie screamed.
" What can I do? I'm speeding here!" She answered.
"Claribel!" Nixie screamed. Claribel let out a deep sigh.
"Aonani, grab the wheel! Hurry! While there's no cars in front of us!" Claribel ordered. I did as she said and grabbed the wheel and placed my foot on the petal as she jumped in the back with Nixie. She looked up and the black SUV was only about fifteen feet behind our car.
"Nixie! Use your force field to slow them down!" Claribel yelled. Nixie turned her whole body around and positioned herself with one foot on the seat and the other on the floor. As if she were pushing on a door, she shoved her hands out in front of her and out came this pinkish-purple half-bubble that extended the further she pushed it out. Once the bubble reached their car, they started to slow down, and it felt like we got faster, which meant Nixie had to use twice as much force to extend the force field to keep it at that distance.
"Cars!" I screamed. Once I did, Nixie dropped the force field and slumped back onto the seat, as well as Claribel did. I made a right turn as soon as I could and drove down another short street until I turned left to go down a dirt road leading into the forest. We knew they were still following us. So we drove as deep as the dirt road went, got out, and ran into the woods in all different directions. It was our turn to attack. We hid behind some trees. We could easily hear their tires just starting to roll onto the dirt road. Their car finally made it into sight. They drove slowly and creepy and parked about thirty feet behind our car. All four doors opened and out came four men and two women. They all wore black hoodies, except for the girls. The first girl had auburn colored curly hair down past her shoulders, eyes of blood red, and lips were a pale pink color. The other had long, straight black hair down to her waist, had the same blood red color eyes, and had the same pale pink lips. They were definantly vampires. They sniffed around for a few seconds, then started to spread out. Claribel raised right her hand, and at that moment, some leaves on the ground about fifteen feet to her right started blowing, making it sound like someone was walking. Instantly, the four men and two women moved in that direction. It took them a while though. Claribel was deep in the woods. The person closest to her was a skinny hooded male. Claribel got into a defensive crouching position and leaped on him as he came into sight. She took him down instantly. She stood up and stomped her foot on the ground, creating the sound of five shotguns going off at once and the ground benieth him shot up, causing his body to fly opposite of hers and slam into a tree. The collision of his body and the tree actually broke the tree. It started making some cracking noises and shaking a alot, causing leaves to fall as a fast pace. Then, the large tree snapped and fell backwards. He layed on his stomach in pain. Then he started to slowly get up.
She then lifted both of her arms up, which started at her waist and lifted outward to where she was stretching her arms out in opposite directions, palms facing up. With this movement, every stone that layed on the ground in the area lifted up and hovered above the ground. When he was finally standing, she swung her hands in front of her, still extended, to where both of her palms met with a loud echoing clap. When she did this, all the rocks hovering went speeding in his directing and slamming into his body, some actually going straight through his torso. The sound of his screams while being stoned to death was horrifing. When he was finally dead, she stopped. She heard some footsteps running towards her, so she dashed in another direction, towards me. Incase you didn't know, witches and vampires run at the same speed, which is insanely fast. Faster than a bullet.
When she finally came into sight, I noticed someone running right at her, coming in from her right. Another hooded man. I dashed off running toward them. I sped right past Claribel. She didn't stop to see where I was heading. She must have had her mind set on something. That's when I tackled the man chasing her. The sound of our boding colliding was like the sound of a boulder hitting the ground after being dropped off the top of the Empire State Building. We spun in a wierd circular motion and crashed to the ground. We both jumped up and looked at each other. His hood was down and I couldn't believe what I was looking at. My facial expression went from anger to mesmirized. I probably looked like some pathetic human who just saw a ghost. This man--this creature--was so...perfect. And the funny thing was, he looked the same way I did while he looked at me.

Chapter 2-Wierd Feelings

What was happening? Why weren't we attacking each other? I heard familiar footsteps running back towards us. It was Claribel. She came back to help me kill him, just incase he was too much for me to handle. This mysterious beautiful man knew this, just as much as I did, and panic flew across both our faces. Why, for some odd reason, did I not want him to get hurt?
"No! I got this under control! Go check on Nixie!" I screamed in her direction.
         "Are you sure?" she yelled.
"Positive," I answered. Relief came onto both of our faces when we heard the sound of her footsteps running in the opposite direction. We just started at each other for about 20 seconds. My heart was racing. I didn't know what to say. But we couldn't just sit here in awkward silence just staring at each other. I had to say something.
"Hey..." I made myself say. My voice was shakey.
"Hey..." he said with a smile.
"Why are ya'll trying to hurt us? We were just at school minding our own business."
"This is all my friend Jayden's doing. He smelled you were in the area and wanted to kill you."
"Oh..." I didn't know what else to say, so I just stood there. The intensity of my heart beats was causing my throat to burn from all the power built up inside me wanting to burst out as I breathed at a quick pace.
"What's your name?" He asked. His voice was shakey, too.
         "Aonani Summers. And yours?"
"Peyton Gray," he answered. Peyton Gray. I've never heard any name like it before, and I bet he's never heard a name like Aonani before.
"How old are you?" I asked. I hopelessly tried to make my voice sound normal, but failed.
         "Seventeen, and you?"
"Same..." Why was I having an awkward conversation with some random, yet beautifully sculpted, vampire whom, along with his coven, was trying to exterminate my sisters and I?!
"Why are we talking? Why aren't you trying to kill me?" I asked sharply. He started to pace foward slowly. I felt like I had to move back because of the increasing distance between us, but I had no control over my body. I was stiff.
"I can ask you the same question..." He stopped about two and a half feet in front of me, and yet I still didn't move. He seemed confident, so I tried to make myself look the same. I don't know if he believed my failed attempt.
"There's just something about you, I'm not sure what it is, but right when I layed my eyes on you...I just couldn't bare to lay a finger on you." He finally said. His words only increased the intensity of the burning flame in my chest.
"That's the same way I felt." I replied with a sigh. He giggled. He seemed to be relieved that he didn't look stupid.

                                                                 *           *          *

Claribel made it to Nixie, whom was trying to fight off the two girl vampires and the other two boy vampires and was losing. The only thing keeping her alive was her weakening shied. A strange noice rumbled inside Claribel's chest. It sounded like someone beating hard on large drums. She stomped her foot in front of her as if she were stepping on a bug on the floor, and the earth sook benieth her, causing the ground to make a large wave going in their direction. Once it hit them, they all went flying in all different directions of the woods. Nixies dim shield protected her from flying with them. Claribel ran to her and helped her up.
"Are you okay?" Claribel asked in a worried, yet velvet, tone.
" I think so," Nixie asnwered as Claribel pulled her to her feet. Nixie was bleeding from her lip, forehead, and her clothes were ripped in a few places and full of dirt.
         "Can you run?" Claribel asked.
         "I think so."
"There's too many of them. We have to get out of here. Lets go find Aonani." They took off running in the direction I was in, but Nixie ran at a slower speed since she was hurt, so Claribel ran at the same pace as her.

                                                                *            *            *

"You know your sisters are gonna get here soon. I gotta go," he said with a sigh.
         "Please don't..." I asked.
"I can hear them coming. You can, too..."
"How will I see you again?" I asked with worry in my voice. With another sigh, he smiled. I don't know why, but I didn't want him to leave. At all. Ever. I felt like I needed him here. It looked like he didn't want to leave either, but we both knew he had to.
"I can give you my cell number..." he finally said.
"Ok, but we gotta hurry. What is it?" I asked. He said his number once slowly, knowing I wouldn't forget it.
         "You got it?" He asked.
"Yeah..." I answered. We both hesitated, wanting to give each other a hug or something, but the footsteps of my sisters were getting closer, so he dashed off in the direction their car was. I just stood there in nonbelief. I couldn't believe what just happened. The fire in my chest was still lit and over-flowing. I had to let go of some energy. I could feel the power running through my veins. I looked at my hands. The center of my palms were glowing and getting brighter. I then held out my arms in front of me, with my palms facing out, and out shot flames. I aimed at different areas of the ground to make it look like I had been fighting. After I put my hands down, I walked a few steps away from the flames, threw myself of the ground and rolled in the leaves and dirt for a couple of seconds. I stood up, shook myself a little bit, and waited for my sisters to show up. They arrived about fifteen seconds later.
"Are you ok? You look aweful." Nixie asked.
"You do, too. I'm fine," I answered. I made it seem like I was out of breath.
"Where's the vampire you ran into?" Claribel asked with her voice still alert and strong.
"I don't know. We fought for a while, but then he heard yall coming, so he knocked me down and ran away," I lied.
"There's still some more in the area. We have to go. There's too many. C'mon," Claribel ordered. We ran back to Claribel's car and drove away, noticing the black SUV that parked behind us was gone.
We didn't even bother going back to school. How could we, looking the way we did. Well, Claribel looked fine, but Nixie and I looked like we got mauled by a bear. Once we got home, we all headed up to Claribel's room. Our grandmother was sleeping, as usual. Nixie and I sat on the floor while Claribel reached under her bed and pulled out a huge book...our spell book. She formed a sitting circle on the floor, lit some candles, turned off the light, and sat the book in the middle of us. The book faced Claribel. The cover of the book had our coven's symbol, the triquetra, all three of our power colors, and was titled Book of Light Magic. A lot of people think witches are evil and all they do is use dark magic. That is so untrue, and we're living, breathing proof of that. And we're not the only ones. Yes, there are some dark witches out there, but we're not one of them. We use white magic.
Claribel opened the book and flipped the pages. She stopped on page twenty three, which had a healing spell.
"Ready?" Claribel asked, holding both of her hands out for us to grab. Nixie and I grabbed her hands and then grabbed each others hands to where we formed a closed circle. Claribel then started reading the spell.
''I call upon the power of nature to heal our wounds, I call upon the power of nature to lessen our pain, I call upon the power of nature to mend thy bones, I call upon the power of nature to restore thy veins. By the combined powers of us sisters three, the healing of our bodies, so shall it be.'' As the spell was being casted, bright lights of green, orange, and purple flew and glittered around us. Once the spell was completely read, we pricked each of our fingers and let a single drop of blood from each of us land on the page of the spell we used. Then all the glittering lights flew into us. Purple going into Nixie, green into Claribel, and orange into me. Around five seconds later, after all the glittering lights were gone, Nixie went and turned on the lights. I looked at her and she was completely healed, but still all dirty. There was no more blood on her and she was moving more swiftly. I moved my arms a little bit and the soarness from running into Peyton was gone.
That reminded me of him. His face flashed into my head and stayed there. I still remembered his number, not like I would forget it. What were these feelings I had for him? Why did I have these feelings for him? Would I ever see him again? So many unanswered questions. I didn't actually realize it until after I saw my two sisters walking out of the room, but I was day dreaming about him. They had already blew out the candles and put the book away.
"Hey...you ok?" Nixie asked. I snapped out of it and looked at her. She stood in the doorway.
"Yeah I'm fine," I said with a smile. I stood up and followed her out of the room. I went straight to my room and wrote his name and number down on a post-it, stuck it on the inside cover of my notebook, and put it under my bed. Then I grabbed some clean clothes and headed for the bathroom to take a shower. Maybe I'll call him tonight. Hopefully he'll answer. If he does, what should I say? What will he say? We'll just have to wait and see.

Chapter 3-Meeting

After my shower, and after Claribel and Nixie showered, we went out to eat. Fighting vampires takes a lot of energy. The entire time eating, I couldn't get Peyton off my mind. I kept running everything that happened today through my mind over and over again, trying to answer the questions that I so desperately need answered. I was sitting in silence again day dreaming.
"Aonani, why are you so quiet?" Claribel asked. I snapped out of it.
         "I don't know. Just am," I replied.
"Is there something on your mind that you'd like to talk about?" Nixie asked.
"No I'm fine. I was just day dreaming. Everything is fine. I promise," I assured them. We continued to eat, and I tried to join in on the conversations, that was until they started talking about boys. They spoke of boys that they thought were cute, whimpy, super sexy, shy, and so on. The only boy I thought of was Peyton.
By the time we left the restaurant, it was almost seven thirty. All the way home, he was still on my mind. I wonder if he thought of me at all. I wonder if he took the time of day just to remember my name. I hope he does, because that would make me look obsessed. When we got home, Claribel and Nixie wanted to watch a movie.
"Aonani, you're not gonna watch the movie with us?" Nixie asked.
"Nah, I'm beat. I'm gonna go check on Gran, then head to bed," I said.
"I already did. She's fine. She's watching re-runs of the show The Golden Girls and eating some oatmeal," Claribel said.
"Oh ok. Well I'm off to bed. Goodnight," I said. They both said goodnight, and then I headed upstairs to my room. I tried to get my mind off of him by listening to some music for a while and watching tv, but it didn't work. I really needed those questions to be answered. I couldn't wait any longer. I looked at the time and the clock said it was nine thirteen. Would he answer if I called him? I crawled out of bed and reached under my bed and grabbed my notebook. I opened the front cover and read the number again, just to make sure I got it right in my head. I grabbed my cell. My hands were shakey. Why was I so nervous? Well, I was about to call a vampire, whom is supposed to be one of my worse enemies. That sounded like a good enough excuse, even though I knew it wasn't the real reason. I dialed the number and placed the phone to my ear. It rang a few times, then went to his voicemail.
"Hey, you've reached Peyton. Leave me a message." I hung up the phone before the message started recording. Hearing his voice lit the little flame in my chest, just a little. For some reason, I was so happy to hear the velvet sound of his voice, but I had a feeling he wouldn't answer my call. He probably got confussed when we crashed into each other and he didn't know what he was doing, then he probably realized what he'd done and knew not to answer my call. I was lind of upset, but I wasn't angry. I knew in my heart that witches and vampires should never even try to talk to each other, so I wasn't suprised that he didn't answer. I plugged my phone into the charger and sat it on my side table next to my alarm clock. I layed down and went to sleep.
The next thing I knew, my ringer was playing loud. It scared me awake. I grabbed it and answered it fast, without looking at the number, so it wouldn't wake up anyone. It was two forty-five in the morning.
"Hello?" My voice was sounded weak and tired.
"Hey, I got a call from this number earlier. Who is this?" Right away, I knew who this was. I could recognize that voice from anywhere. The flame in my chest was lit again and my heart was racing. I quickly sat on the side of my bed.
"Is this Peyton?" I asked, my voice no longer weak, but now was shakey.
"Aonani?" He must have recognized my voice, as well.
         "Yeah, it's me..."
"Hi. I'm sorry I missed your call earlier. I was out hunting and forgot my phone at home."
         "It's ok..."
"And sorry for calling so early in the morning. Would you like to go back to sleep?"
"Oh no, it's ok. I wanna talk to you," I was now wide awake.
"Ok, cool," he sounded relieved by my answer.
"So what are you up to?" I asked.
"I just got out of the shower. I'm laying in bed now."
         "I thought vampires never sleep?"
"We don't. I just have it for show. And I like to lay down when I listen to music or watch tv and stuff like that."
"Oh ok. So...I've been wondering...what exactly...happened...today...between you and I?" I was so nervous, and I'm sure he could tell by the sound of my voice and my stuttering, but I had to ask. It was killing me not knowing.
"Honestly, I don't know. All I knew was right when I saw you, I didn't wanna hurt you. I didn't want anything to hurt you. I had like a million thoughts and feelings going on inside of me all at once..." His voice was so peaceful and perfect. I could tell he was telling the truth.
"That's exactly how I felt," I said with relief. It was nice to know I wasn't the only one who felt that way.
"Thank God! I thought I was going crazy. I never thought I'd end up having feelings for a witch."
"You have feelings for me?" The flame in my chest got bigger.
"Isn't that how you would explain what happened? All day, I only thought about you and your voice." Again, the flame got bigger.
"The same thing happened to me today. I thought of nothing but you."
"I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one," he said with a laugh.
"Hey, I'm actually wide awake now. You wanna meet up and hang out?" I knew it was late, but I had to see him, now that I know how he feels.
"Sure. Where do you wanna meet up?"
"Hmmm...how about that old church down the road from my school?"
"Ok, cool. Meet you there in a few."
         "Ok. Bye."
"Bye," he hung up. I can't believe I was about to sneak out to go meet up with a vampire. This will be good for me, I think. I need to see him or the flame in my chest will end up causing me to burn down the house. I got out of bed and got dressed. I went all out, nothing too flashy, I just made sure I looked good. I grabbed my phone and my purse and crawled out of my window. I jumped down to the ground without a problem. I bet if I was human, I would've gotten hurt. I giggled at that thought. I didn't want to use my supernatural speed and run there, because it would make my hair all messed up and I'll get all stinky. So I quietly got into my orange convertable mustang and drove away as slowly as I could. Once I was away from the house, I sped up. I kept glancing in the mirror to check if someone was following me. I hope I didn't wake up my sisters or grandmother.
The drive to the old chruch was quiet and peaceful. I drove with my convertable top down. The cool breeze of the night wind felt good. It caused the burning flame in my chest to lower, but not dissapear. I pulled up to the old chruch, and in the dark parking lot was one lonely truck. I pulled into the parking lot and parked a few spaces away from the truck. Once I opened my car door, the truck door opened, too. Peyton stepped out. My heart started to race. Even in the dark, he still looked beautiful. I can see he went all out, just as I did. I walked around my car and walked towards him.
"Hey," I said with a big smile across my face. He was smiling widely, too.
"Hey," I didn't hesitate to go up to him and hug him tightly. I wrapped my arms around his torso and he wrapped his around my neck. He smelled so good. I wonder if he could feel my heart pounding against my chest because it was racing pretty fast.
"It's so good to see you again," he said.
"I know. I've been dying to see you."
"Me, too," he said with a sigh. He rested his head on mine as I rested mine on his chest. We stood there hugging. I don't think either one of us wanted to let go. I had to force myself to pull away.
"Wanna go for a walk?" I asked. He smiled again.
"Sure." He started walking into the woods behind the church. We walked in silence for a couple of minutes. I walked on his left. His right hand was in his pocket and his other hand dangled by mine. Our hands hit a few times, so he slowly grabbed on to mine and twisted his fingers to fit between mine. His hands were so cold. Mine were probably hot from the burning flame that kept getting bigger and bigger in my chest.
We started talking about a lot of things. Like school, life, music, and so on. He told me that he's home schooled because he doesn't know if he would be able to control himself.
"Everyone at my school are too scared to even talk to us, even though most of us think we look like super models. All they do is stare at us. It's so wierd," I said. He giggled.
"How do you know they think yall look like super models?" He asked.
"My sister Nixie can read minds."
         "Which one is that?"
"The younger one with purple eyes. The one that made yalls car slow down when yall were chasing us."
"Oh ok. What can you do?"
         "I'm a fire starter."
"Is that why you're so hot?" I started blushing, which is bad because it made my body hotter. He let go of my hand.
"Yes, you are very beautiful, but I was talking about your body temperature. It keeps getting hotter and hotter. It kinda burned my hand right now." He giggled.
"I am so sorry. Everytime I talk to you, I start over-heating."
         "What do you mean?"
"So much power builds up inside of me to the point where I have to release it. Then I'll cool down."
"Do you need to release some right now?" He was so understanding. I'm so glad he didn't run away thinking I was going to use it on him.
"I do actually. I don't wanna burn you, but I also don't wanna burn down the woods."
"Just fire at the ground and I'll put it out."
"Ok. Stand back." He took a few steps back. I stretched my arms out in front of me with my palms out. I could feel the heat running through my body and slowly more into my hands.
"Wow, You're glowing. Literally," he said. I turned my head and smiled at him.
"And your eyes are glittering even brighter than usual. Amazing!" He said. I giggled.
"Thanks," I said. I turned my head back to look at my hands. This was it. My hands were now on fire. Literally. I opened and closed them a few times, then held them out again, shooting fire out through the palms of my hands onto the dead leaf filled ground. After about ten seconds, I closed my hands into fists and dropped my arms to my sides. Peyton then ran in front of me, kicking some dirt over the fire to put it out. My glow lowered and I could feel that the flame in my chest was gone. He was finally done putting out the fire. He came walking back towards me.
"That was amazing," he said taking me into his arms.
"Thanks," I replied. Even though we were in the middle of a dark forest alone, I could still see every feature of his face and body, and not only because he was pale white.
"You are so beautiful," he whispered. My heart started racing again. He started giggling.
         "I love that," he laughed.
         "Love what?" I asked.
"The sound of your heart beating really fast. I can easily tell when you get nervous."
"Oh God. That's so embarassing," I complained.
"No, it's cute. When you're around nothing but other vampires all day, you get used to the silence of hearts. That's why I love hearing yours," he said with a smile. We just stared at each other for a few seconds. His breathing got a little heavier, as well did mine. He moved his head in slowly. We both closed our eyes slowly as our lips started to touch. His lips were cold as ice, yet as soft as cotton. He placed one hand on the side of my cheek and wrapped his other arm around my lower back. My arms were locked around his torso. The kiss lasted for about ten seconds. He slowly pulled away, but didn't move from the position we were in.
We then heard someone clear their throat. We turned out heads and saw my sisters standing about ten feet away just staring at us with an angry look on their face and their arms crossed across their chests.
         " Uh oh..." I whispered.

Chapter 4-Busted

Peyton and I immediately dropped our arms and took one step away from each other. Neither one of us knew what to say. I didn't think he'd be scared of them, since we were natural enemies and all. I guess it was just because he was out-numbered.
"Clair-" I started to speak but she cut me off.
"Shut up, Aonani. How the hell could you do this? This could very well be a trap! For all you know, you could've been that leech's breakfast!" Claribel yelled. Peyton took offence to what she called him.
"What the hell did you just call me?" He asked angrily.
"You heard me, you bloodsucker," she said back, also in an angry tone. He took one step foward, but I put my hand against his chest, letting him know to stop. This movement also led Claribel and Nixie to think I was protecting him, which I sort of was.
"I can't believe what I'm seeing..." Nixie said in disbeliefe.
"Listen, please, he's not going to kill me or yall. He's different," I tried to explain.
"Oh please! Just like a rock is a rock, a vampire is a vampire! They're all the same and will never change!" Claribel protested. Nixie seemed focused on Peyton for some reason. Her face wore a confused expression.
"You don't even know him!" I protested back.
"Neither do you! And I have no interest in learning about this leech! I know all I need to know about them! All from what they like to drink to how to kill them. Now that's my favorite part," she said with a smirk.
"Why don't you try then witch?" Peyton yelled.
"My pleasure," she said with a smile. Her glittery green eyes suddenly began to glow. I didn't know what to do. Protect Peyton, or listen to my sisters. I went with my first instinct. I felt heat run through my veins. I knew my eyes must've been glowing, too. I then stood in front of Peyton and braced myself. Claribel's smirk dropped.
"You're really going to choose some vampire stranger over your own flesh and blood?" She asked in non-beliefe.
"Nobody has to choose anything. You're making a huge mistake Claribel. Trust me," I assured her.
"Trust you?! I don't even know who you are anymore. You and him were just trying to kill each other earlier today, now you're making out with him? You're as good as dead if you stay with him!" She yelled.
"We weren't fighting. I made the whole thing up," I admited. Her eyes widened.
"First you lie to us, then you sneak out to make out with a leech, then you choose him over us! I was wrong...you're already dead," she said in a serious, dead tone.
I braced myself. From my hands to my shoulders were covered in fire. She ground began to shake. I then quickly extended my arms out in front of me, shooting fire in her direction. At the same time, she extended her arms out in front of her, shoving a very strong wind in my directing. At the exact moment when she and I both used our powers, Nixie through a shield between us, that causing our powers to collide and lightly explode. The explosion knocked all of us down.
I felt more calm now, still angry, but the fire and the heat in my body was gone. Claribel's eyes were no longer glowing. We all stood up.
"Nixie, why did you do that?! I had them!" Claribel yelled.
"Not only is she our sister, but she's telling the truth," she assured. Claribel's eyes narrowed.
"What are you talking about?" She asked. I was also interested.
"As hard as it might seem to believe, he is different. He had no intention of hurting her."
"Oh please! I don't buy it! He's a freaking bloodsucker! They're all the same!" Claribel protested. I heard him hiss softly from behind me.
"He's different, believe me. I've been reading his mind. It was his mind that I read this morning at school. He doesn't have the same kind of mind as the others do. He actually didn't want to be there this morning. He didn't see a reason in killing us for no reason like his friends did. He was forced to try though," she explained.
"I don't believe you," Claribel said.
"Why are you so subborn, Claribel?! Our psychic sister, whom is on your side, by the way, knows the truth and you still refuse to believe it! Just face the facts! You're wrong!" I screamed.
"If you don't want to believe them, fine. But believe me, Claire. I know the truth. I wouldn't lie to you. You know that," Nixie said.
"No I don't know that. I didn't think she would lie to us, but look! She did! How do I know you're not?" Claribel yelled back. She was just being so damn stubborn! She always has to be right! And she usually is, but not now. I'm not even psychic and I knew he was different from the moment I layed eyes on him. I wonder what that means.
"Because I'm still on your side!" Nixie yelled.
"If you're sticking up for them, no you're not!"
"You are just making yourself look so stupid! You know you're wrong! Just admit it! Don't you have any shame?" I protested.
"Aonani, stop! She's not worth it," Peyton said softly while putting his hand on my shoulder.
"You know what? Fine! If you want to run with vampires, then do it! I don't care! You could join her Nixie! I'm done! I don't need yall! I hope yall don't get found in a ditch somewhere!" She yelled, then turned around and ran away instantaneously. We just stood there in shock. Nixie must have been hurt worse. She was just trying to help. She turned and looked at me.
"He may be different, but that still doesn't change the rules around here. You know we're forbidden to be with vampires. If you get caught, then it's death for the both of you. And the death of me since I know about it and didn't say anyting," Nixie warned us while a tear ran down her face.
"We won't get caught. I promise," Peyton assured her.
"I hope you're right. I can't make you stop seeing him. I'm not your parent, but I can, and will, support you in every decision that you make. You should be allowed to make your own mistakes and then learn from them. So, not that you need it, but you have my blessing," Nixie said softly. A tear ran down my face.
"Thank you, Nix," I said back. She ran and slammed herself into me and wrapped her arms around me. I did the same to her. I could feel her heart beating on my chest. It was going fast. I knew she was worried about me. After about ten seconds, she pulled away and wiped her face. I did the same.
"I'm gonna head home. Don't be home too late," Nixie said.
"What are you gonna do about Claire?" I asked.
"She can't keep us out of our own home. She won't talk to us for a while, for a very long while, but she won't do anything else. I know her all too well," Nixie said confident.
"Ok hun. I'll see you at home soon," I said. She nodded and ran off in the same direction Claribel ran. I let out one deep breath, then turned to look at Peyton. He was looking down at me, smiling. I couldn't help but smile back.
"I'm so sorry about that," I told him.
"Don't be. It's not your fault. The good thing is that we're alone again," he said softly. He got closer to me. Our eyes were locked on each others.
"I know I've only known you for a few hours, but I have something to ask you," he said. My face went blank.
"Going though this, and not even being together, just proved how much we care for each other. So, Aonani, will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?" He asked. My heart started to race again. Heat was running through my veins like crazy.
"Yes," I answered. He smiled widely then pressed his lips to mine, but then quickly pulled away and put his hand over his lips.
        "Ouch!" He said while giggling.
"I am so sorry! It's just, when I get really nervous, I start burning up," I said. How humiliating.
"I think I can handle it," he siad. He then pressed his lips to mine again. His icy lips and my firey lips caused each other's to turn warm. The kiss was now perfect.
